Mail Box Lighting Update
As you may or may not be aware, the original mail boxes were replaced with new mailboxes that adhere to the United States Postal Service rules. For safety reasons, the rules require that mail be delivered and retrieved from the sidewalk and not from the street. Once this change had been made, unit owners picking up their mail at night no longer had the street lights to illuminate their mail box.
In an effort to correct this problem, solar powered spot lights were installed. These lights also had motion detection that would go on when someone was at the mail box and go off after a certain amount of time had passed. The decision to install these lights seemed like the best solution as there is no electricity to the mail boxes and the lights provided more then sufficient illumination for unit owners to pick up their mail.
Unfortunately, these lights only worked for a short period of time for many reasons i.e., weather, shade, etc. As a result, these lights have been removed from the mailboxes. The board will continue to research viable options. Until a new solution is found, we apologize for the inconvenience.
